Project Details and Process
As a Field Organizer with "All In PA," the Pennsylvania Democratic Party's 2022 coordinated Midterm Election Campaign, I successfully worked to engage and activate voters, focusing on mobilizing on Penn Campus and Chinese-American Communities in Northeast Philadelphia, in support of Candidates(John Fetterman to the U.S. Senate and Josh Shapiro as Governor) fighting to protect immigrant voting rights, defend reproductive healthcare, address gun violence, and create good-paying jobs for all Pennsylvanians.
At this critical time, women's reproductive health rights were under severe threat following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, making civic participation more crucial than ever.
Mobilizing Communities: canvasing on Penn campus and with Asian Small Businesses in Chinatown
I focused on engaging the Chinese-American community in Northeast Philadelphia, a group largely consisting of new immigrants facing language barriers and a lack of awareness about midterm elections. This made translation work crucial.
Additionally, I joined the AAPI Coalition's efforts to engage Asian small business owners across Philly, including a canvass launch in Chinatown with John Fetterman. I coordinated volunteers, disseminated Get Out The Vote (GOTV) information in 21 languages, and collaborated with small business owners and community leaders.
I also connected with the Chinese Students and Scholars Association at Penn (CSSAP) to conduct campus engagement work.
